Avon House Preparatory School is proud to offer LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) lessons. LAMDA Exams (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) are Speech and Drama exams that explore two types of syllabi. The first is Communications, focusing on either Verse and Prose, Speaking in Public and Reading for Performance. The second is Performance, looking at Acting, Devising and Miming. LAMDA Exams can help build confidence with speaking out loud, to nurturing the creativity of an individual.
During preparation for an exam, we will explore many skills but in particular, clarity of diction, pace, projection, modulation in pitch and tone to posture, breathing techniques, stance and spontaneity.
LAMDA Exams can be used towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) and the medal levels (Grade 6, 7, 8) can earn UCAS Points towards University Applications.
Exams can be taken individually, as a pair or in a group. Every exam is accredited and can be added to a CV to demonstrate a range of skills. LAMDA Exams will take place at The Public Centre in Baron’s Court most weekends, when your child is ready. More information can be found here: https://www.lamda.ac.uk/lamda-exams/our-exams
