For some pupils, the school day starts with breakfast which is served by a team of staff in our Breakfast Club. Pupils receive a nutritious, balanced breakfast consisting of porridge, cereal, toast, yogurt and fruit.
Nursery pupils are provided with a fruit snack which they are encouraged to prepare and then share with friends. The remainder of the School bring a fruit snack from home which is eaten before the mid-morning break.
We have a partnership with the catering company, Thomas Franks. Thomas Franks is a market-leading, privately-owned caterer with a strong understanding of the independent school sector. Over the last 19 years, as a family-owned business, they have built a reputation for providing amazing quality, seasonal and nutritious food to staff and pupils. Thomas Franks was founded on the principles of providing freshly produced, locally sourced food provided by fully trained staff. Their mission is to create a positive impact on school communities by offering high-quality, nutritious and enjoyable dining experiences. They understand the pivotal role nutrition plays in a pupil’s overall development and take this responsibility to heart.
Thomas Franks contribute to the school community, not just with daily school lunches but also with themed events. In addition, they have also enabled us to be able to offer Halal options which are included on the weekly menus.
School lunches are prepared and cooked on the premises by a qualified Catering Team, where we produce a wide choice of food and cater for halal, vegetarian and other special diets.
All pupils are expected to eat the lunches provided; the cost is included in the school fees.
Lunch is served in the School Hall, supervised by a midday supervision team. Teachers and Teaching Assistants sit with their respective classes as we encourage pupils to respect good table manners and healthy eating habits.
There are a number of interactive healthy eating activities, to ensure pupils enjoy their food, eat healthily and get the nutrition to support learning in class and fitness on the sports field (in line with article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child).
Thomas Franks is proud to be the chosen catering partner of Avon House Preparatory School.
Please see below our Autumn Term menu.
Pupils using our after-school care facility are given a healthy fruit snack and water once they have been registered for out of hours care. Any pupils staying beyond 5.00pm are given a high tea.
