An Egg-Stra Special Achievement

Posted: 8th March 2024

After the success of the Christmas appeal back in December 2023, Avon House has yet again proved themselves to be charity heroes this term, collecting a whopping two-hundred and eleven Easter eggs for the
local foodbank – the Epping Forest Foodbank, run by the Trussel Trust. Easter is the celebration of life – to spread cheer and happiness throughout; to demonstrate that life is good and that life is valuable in every which way. Avon House supported the foodbank with the aim of helping those that use the service. Each year, the charity works very closely with all donors (including us) for donations of Easter Eggs, so that they are able to not only fill the hubs with beautiful eggs to share with children that use a foodbank, but also for the Food In School Holidays (FISH) programme that provides vital foodbank parcels to families that will be affected by the change of free school meal allocation. And support them we did! 211 eggs is almost ¼ of the total donations they received last year for this project. It appears that the charity is going from strength to strength.

Yesterday, Amy visited form the local foodbank to collect the huge collection of tasties donated by the children and parents, staff and neighbours at Avon House school. Mr Galeri spoke to Amy earlier today who said “This is so wonderful – 300 eggs is enough to give all of the families’ children an egg each for Easter Sunday and they will be thrilled. You have collected more than last year!”

We spoke to councillors Molly and Mannat, Chair and Vice chair of the AHS School council. “I am amazed by the generosity shown by Avon House families and I was very happy being involved with the entire
fundraising event” Mannat, 6NH, gushed. “I’m proud of how many eggs were donated to the Trussell Trust, as it was more than double of what we collected last year” Molly, 6NH added.
We hope that this “spegg-tacular” charity and our “egg-tra hard” work and partnership continue to flourish, providing those less fortunate then us with joy, hope and happiness.
