Leo’s Walk for Shelter

Posted: 8th December 2023

What? I did a 10km sponsored walk for Shelter, a charity that helps people who are homeless and live in temporary homes. I am in Morris and we are supporting Shelter too!

Where? We did the walk in Central London. We started at London Bridge station near The Shard. We walked along the River Thames all the way to the London Eye and Big Ben. Sad face because we didn’t go on the London Eye! We walked over Westminster Bridge and took a selfie with Big Ben! Then we carried on walking by the river, but going the other way towards Tower Bridge. We went over Tower Bridge and then back to       London Bridge, where we had some cookies and some sweeties. People clapped when we finished. Afterwards we went to Wagamama to get some noodles.

When? We did the walk on Wednesday 6  December. We started at 6.30pm and finished at about 8.30pm. That means it took us about two hours to do our 10km walk. It was dark and cold. We did not get home until very late, about 10pm.

Who? I did the 10km walk with my brother Sam, my sister Eve and my mum Abi. Daddy was ill and he couldn’t do it. He was going to do the last 3km with us but sadly he couldn’t. The walk went past his work.

Why? I did the 10km walk because I feel bad for people who have nowhere to go, nowhere to eat food, and nowhere to have parties. Maybe they don’t have friends, or even parents. I think it would be really bad to be homeless. Imagine   everything you have in your home, gone. And you couldn’t even go to school. Instead you have to live on the streets with just a blanket and bag.
