Museum of Docklands

Posted: 12th March 2023

Students in a big group stood outside the Museum of Docklands in London

On Thursday, Year 5 travelled down to West India Quay to go to the Museum of London Docklands. The museum has excellent links to the Year 5 curriculum, including Crime and Punishment, The Tudors and our Autumn class read, Diver’s Daughter.

“I enjoyed completing the quiz and finding the answers. Even though it was a bit frustrating, it was fun in the end, especially counting all the miniature boats at St Katherine’s Dock!” – Easton

“My favourite part was looking at all the cool facts in the rooms and completing the quiz, which we had to persevere with!” – Arvin

“We learnt lots about the history of the docks in London, like the human-sized hamster wheel used to lift and lower barrels!” – Molly

“I learnt that Sainsbury’s was originally called J. Sainsbury’s and that they sold strange cuts of meat, including heads, shoulders, knees and knuckles (not toes!)” – Emily
