Avon House aprendió a bailar flamenco!
Our Flamenco Day started with an assembly led by Ilusion Flamenca, an award winning dance school in London. The professional flamenco dancers and musician introduced Avon House pupils to the rich traditions of Spanish dance, focusing on rhythm, movement and expression and gave a brief introduction to the history of flamenco, highlighting its roots in Andalusian, Romani, and Moorish cultures.
This followed with all pupils taking part in dance workshops throughout the day. Our pupils learnt basic dance steps, including zapateado (footwork), palmas (clapping techniques), and braceo (arm movements) and put them all together.
We were also excited to offer a parent workshop at the end of the day!
