Our Year 2 pupils had an enriching visit to St Thomas of Canterbury Church as part of their RE learning about Christianity. They were warmly welcomed by Father Michael, who shared fascinating insights about the church’s patron saint, St Thomas of Canterbury. The children learned about his life, his importance in Christian history, and why the church is dedicated to him.
Father Michael also retold the Easter story, reinforcing what the pupils have been studying this term. The children listened attentively as he explained the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection, deepening their understanding of this important Christian event.
To end the session, Father Michael delighted the pupils with a heart-warming ‘bubbles’ activity. They watched in fascination as the bubbles changed colour and floated up into the church’s vaulted ceiling, leaving them in awe of the beautiful sight.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the pupils to experience a place of worship first-hand, ask thoughtful questions and reflect on their learning in a meaningful way.
