As part of Year 2 learning about Christianity, the children went to visit a local church. They learnt about a church being a Christian place of worship and that Christians can worship by praying, singing, teaching, helping and reading. They were interested to look at the different types of Bibles, especially children’s picture Bibles, and why they are so important to Christians.
The children enjoyed exploring the church and learning about the features. They were fascinated to find out that the stained-glass windows helped to tell stories from the Bible! They even had a cross hunt to count how many crosses they could find and discussed why the symbol is so important to Christians.
As they left, they were excited to hear the church bells and understand how and why these are used.
